We hope you will enjoy the variety of activities we have planned for the weekend of May 29-31, 2009. The southwest mountains of Virginia offer some unique birding opportunities. The fresh fragrances and sounds of spring in the mountains should provide a great Kick off to your birding year.
We are excited about having Julie Zickefoose as a guest speaker at the 2009 birding festival.
We have a rich variety of trips and workshops for you to choose. All will be lead by birders or naturalists that are knowledgeable about their subject and enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge. We have scheduled guided rafting trips on the historic New River offering unique bird sightings. In addition to the many hikes and workshops around the Mountain Lake Hotel and Jefferson National Forest we have activities for children in the conservancy at Mountain Lake.
Our Keynote speakers will be Julie Zickefoose.
Our mission is to provide an entertaining and informative spring event about the birds of the mountain region of southwest Virginia. The events of the festival will educate birders of all interest levels and ages. The festival will promote tourism in the area and inform visitors of the many outdoor activities available in the New River Valley. We hope you enjoy your weekend and return to this
event next year.
